Escape Artist
4/20/11
Another new one, just created it this afternoon. I’ve already come up with a half-dozen variations off this…I think there’s a TON of potential here. Enjoy!

Cold Shoulder

A combo made almost entirely out of transitions. Yeah. Some days I really am just a juggler who owns some yo-yos…

Casual
4/14/11
Some days you pick up a yo-yo and the very first thing you’re inclined to do is something you’ve never done before.
And sometimes it turns out pretty awesome.

Anaconda
4/12/11
Hooray for new counterweight mounts! I’m calling this a “snake mount” and I think it’s super obvious why. I’ve already got some more variations of this, so expect to see more of it soon.
Song is “Here I Go Again” covered by The Botticellis.

Shoulder Slide
4/3/11
I’m a fan of tricks that slide, and I don’t think there are nearly enough of them.

Subtle Penguins
4/2/11
I often delight in creating the smallest of tricks, so small they go almost unnoticed by even other yo-yo players. Tiny little adjustments that look like nothing, but feel nice to me.
Those might be my favorite tricks. Tiny jokes that I wrote just for myself, to remind me that it’s just a toy, even if it’s been a job for a decade and a half.

This trick is so much harder to hit consistently than it should be.

Nunchuck Flourish
3/31/11
This is a very subtle flourish on a standard Nunchuck that I’ve been messing with lately. It’s odd, but adds a bit of flair. The key is to pull your catch hand to the right of the yo-yo and allow the counterweight to wrap around your finger there, then raising your arm and letting the counterweight hit your shoulder to reverse and slide back to your hand. It’s more intuitive to do than to explain.
Song is “So Much To Hate” by Panthro U.K. United 13. They appear courtesy of No Idea Records.
