Nunchuck Norris

I’m still in love with hubstack 5A, and I’m not even close to getting it where I want it. This is a new nunchuck combo I’ve recently gotten cleaned up and smoothed out.

If I told you how many yo-yos I’ve destroyed trying to get this trick reliable, you’d probably be really, really upset.

The Quarter Trick
3/8/11
It’s a long-standing staple of professional yo-yo performers to do a trick where you knock a quarter off someone’s ear with a yo-yo. But when you consider that there are probably less than a dozen actual professional yo-yo performers making the rounds, that makes it a pretty scarce routine. So for today’s trick I thought I’d give you my entire Quarter Trick routine from my recent show opening for Jonathan Richman.
Enjoy. 🙂
Yo-yo used is the Loop 900 by YoYo Factory. Intro and outro music is a snippet of “Egyptian Reggae” by Jonathan Richman.

This trick was inspired by watching my friend Jay doing some really interesting juggling body moves with a set of juggling balls that he absolutely hated. It was pretty amazing to watch someone create tricks that were completely equipment specific, purely as an exercise in creativity.

This is another little gem from my 2007 Worlds routine, although I can’t remember off the top of my head if it actually made it in the routine or not.

Oh, don’t make that face…we all played with AstroJax for a minute there. This trick is based on another trick from a similar toy called Monkey Knuckles, that was introduced to me when I still worked at Duncan.
Song is “Haircut” by Flanders. They’re an old local band from Tallahassee, FL that were active when I still lived there, back in ’96 or so. Not sure if they ever put out an album other than this one, but I always loved this song. Plus, I had a crush on their singer. She was adorable.
