365yoyotricks.com – Year Two
As 365 started winding down, I realized I’m not done with it.
I’m not gonna lie, it’s been a pretty huge pain in the arse to keep this going. I really underestimated the amount of work it was going to take to create, film, score, edit, and upload a trick every single day. You’ll notice that I ran out of “old tricks” pretty early on in the process. I honestly thought I had a lot more than I did. Ha.
Sheesh.
But it’s been fun, and I feel like constant content is one of the things that keeps yoyoing interesting…there is ALWAYS something new coming out and that’s a huge part of the fun.
So 365yoyotricks.com will be continuing in 2012 with a few changes:
1. The videos will be moving from YouTube to Vimeo. Partly because I like Vimeo’s quality better, partly because there are fewer problems with nasty commenters, but mostly because YouTube’s copyright system is ridiculous. I’ve had videos removed that I had music rights to but didn’t prove it fast enough, and I really don’t like having other people’s ads served on my videos without having a say in the matter.
2. More merch! I’m working on some t-shirt designs now, there will be new stickers, and possibly even some 365yoyotricks.com editions of popular yo-yos.
And the biggest announcement:
3. More players.
I had a lot of fun creating all these tricks this year, but I want 365yoyotricks.com to become more than just my own personal outlet. So I’m bringing on FIVE players that I love to watch, and each of them will be contributing one trick per week. So for 2012, you’ll get two tricks a week from me, and five tricks a week from a roster of players that I think you’ll be pretty excited about.
Full announcement of the roster coming on Thursday, Dec. 15th. In the meantime, please be sure to like us on Facebook, add us on Twitter, follow us on Tumblr, and subscribe on Vimeo.
Thanks so much for all the support, thanks to the National Yo-Yo Museum for giving me the “Trick Innovator Of The Year” award for this project (and a few other little things I may have done in the past), and thanks to the players who have come on board to make this project even more amazing. I promise….you folks are gonna be stoked.
