This is a very subtle flourish on a standard Nunchuck that I’ve been messing with lately. It’s odd, but adds a bit of flair. The key is to pull your catch hand to the right of the yo-yo and allow the counterweight to wrap around your finger there, then raising your arm and letting the counterweight hit your shoulder to reverse and slide back to your hand. It’s more intuitive to do than to explain.

My buddy Chris has been doing a “Daily Sketchbook”, posting pics of the critters that he draws for his fans and collectors….much like I’ve been doing with these tricks. So we decided to partner up for maximum cross-awesomeness.

…and in other news, I’m continuing my crusade to make yo-yo tricks look more like juggling. Just a little something I cooked up today while messing around with more body moves.
Song is “Skulls” covered by Gunmoll. This is a rare recording that was only available on some burned CDs that the band gave away to fans on a short Japanese tour. It’s awesome.
I like repeaters. I like repeaters. I like repeaters. I like repeaters. I like repeaters. I like repeaters.

Today was a great day at the Cleveland Yo-Yo Club. We hung out, made up ridiculous tricks, and I cooked up this epic piece of stupidity.

I don’t remember who did it first, but a long time ago someone came up with a picture trick that looked like the old Rat Bones logo from Powell. It might have even been me, for all I know. It was during that 1996 – 2001 era when we all just made up a half-dozen new tricks every single day and forgot them as fast as we finished them.
Anyway, here’s a new version of it. It’s weird and awesome.
Song is “Help Save The Youth Of America” by Discount. They broke up eleven years ago. They were awesome, and I miss them.
Just a little something to irritate the hell out of you. 😉
Song is “The Itch” by Cutman. They appear courtesy of their own bad selves.
When a juggler drops a club, there’s a trick called a “kickup”. They roll the handle up onto their ankle, and then kick the club back up in the air.
Yo-yos have to be wound up, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still kick ’em up to your hand.
Song is “Shorty” by Missile Command. They appear courtesy of Jerm Pollet.
I like tricks that you can repeat forever until the yo-yo just stops spinning.
Song is “Badly Drawn” by Fifth Hour Hero. They appear courtesy of No Idea Records.
Sometimes I make up tricks that are so hard that by the time I’m supposed to film them, I hate them already. This was one of those tricks. It’s stupidly difficult but it feels so smooth to perform…when you can actually hit it, anyway.
